Ray is a Combat Veteran and Co-founded Balanced Diagnostics and leads the team as CEO and President. He received a B.Sc. in Molecular Biology from the University of Central Florida. His responsibilities include overseeing scientific and technology development, defining Balanced Diagnostic's business strategy and securing financial and human resources necessary for its execution. Before Balanced, Ray gained experience in the pharmaceutical industry with Bristol Myers Squibb, Schering-Plough and Merck as well as working in the compounding and wholesale drug industries. Through several years in AFSOC Ray learned the importance of team synergy and leadership and utilizes this knowledge to build and drive organizational success.
COO, Co-Founder, Executive Board Member
Paul is a co-founder and COO of Balanced. He is an experienced leader in the pharmaceutical market bringing over 20 years of sales and operations management experience. Paul is an expert strategist in management positions responsible for manufacturing, 3rd party logistics, and logistical operations. He also has extensive experience in the bulk chemical and compounding industries with extensive knowledge in pharmacy compounding, infusion, cleanroom design and manufacture requirements in the USP 795, 797, 800 and cGMP markets.
Sherin Al-Safadi, MSc, MBA, PhD
Chief Medical Officer, Executive Board Member
Sherin Al-Safadi has extensive experience in oncology and the pharmaceutical industry where she is pursuing her passion for innovative patient-centric healthcare and translational medicine. Sherin attended McGill University where she completed a B.Sc. in Anatomy & Cell Biology and M.Sc. in Pharmacology & Therapeutics. She obtained her MBA (Entrepreneurship & Management) and PhD in Neurobiology from Concordia University. Sherin began her professional journey with Bayer Canada and spent several years with the Oncology team, in advisor and managerial roles prior to relocating to Bayer US. Outside of work, Sherin is a proactive philanthropist with a passion for driving social change. Sherin is also a competitive kickboxer; she has learnt the toughest life lessons in the ring and continues to apply them in her personal and professional lives.
Krista Meyer, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer, Executive Board Member
Experienced biotechnology developer with a passion for improving patient care by leveraging novel diagnostic platforms. Her expertise includes project origination, method and assay development, and creative problem solving. Prior to joining Balanced, Krista held several positions of increasing responsibilities at Biodesix, a lung cancer diagnostics company that uses modern precision medicine technologies to improve patient outcomes. She collaborated with KOLs focused in a wide range of disease states including multiple sclerosis, severe asthma and oncology, exploring new immunotherapies to design actionable diagnostics. Krista received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado and now leverages both her expertise in lab science and molecular diagnostic development to support the mission at Balanced Diagnostics.
Commercial Advisor, Board Member
John's career spans over 25 years in pharma, progressing in commercial roles within large pharma and start-ups. Prior to joining us, he served as President and General Manager of the US Commercial subsidiary at Kyowa Kirin (formerly ProStrakan Inc) leading the transformation of that business into a performance-driven and profit-contributing organization. Prior to that, John led marketing at NicOx Inc, preparing the company for the launch of their nitric oxide-donating compounds worldwide. Over the years, he has shared his commercial expertise consulting for clinical-stage companies, most recently Stealth Biotherapeutics. John received his B.A. from Villanova University.
May Orfali, MD

Dr. May Orfali has an extensive background in drug and clinical development programs that spans two decades in multiple therapeutic areas, with a focus on rare diseases, oncology, hematology, infectious disease and women’s health. Dr. Orfali holds a medical degree from the University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq, and a Pharmaceutical Masters of Business Administration from Cambridge University, Cambridge, England. She was a practicing physician, specialized in CNS Oncology Clinical Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in Boston, MA and completed her Fellowship in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children’s Hospital, Boston, MA.
